Michael And The Made In America Festival

October 8, 2015

Michael is a 9-year old boy who dreams of becoming a guitarist. This dream faced a setback when he was diagnosed with optic pathway gliomas, brain tumors that arise in or around the optic nerve causing vision loss. Years of chemotherapy in attempt to save Michael’s vision have caused him to lose function in his left hand. Yet, he sleeps with a guitar by his side every night, hoping for the opportunity to one day perform for his friends and family. His wish for Do It For the Love was to see some of his favorite musicians perform live – and we were glad to send him and his family to the Made In America Festival in Philadelphia to see artists including Nick Jonas, Young Rising Sons and The Weekend.

“Words cannot begin to express my gratitude to your organization on behalf of my family,” said Michael’s mother. “Michael absolutely loves music, he lives and breathes music. So for him to have this wonderful experience meant the world to him.”
