Sara Talks about Vines & Vibes

It’s the hottest ticket in town and McKenzy, who is 16-years-old and living with Stage IV Squamous Cell Carcinoma, longed to see Hamilton: the Musical up close and hear the music that has so inspired her through her treatments. Broadway stage manager and DIFTL supporter Julie DeVore helped secure VIP tickets and back-stage access to the cast. It was a memorable and inspiring experience for all!
“I was stunned when I saw that our tickets were so close and that I would get to go backstage after the show,” said McKenzy. “I will forever remember how lovely the cast members were after the show and how stunningly talented they all were. It was such an amazing experience not only to get to see the show I’ve obsessed over but to meet the cast and talk with them. Thank you so much Do It For the Love for getting me these amazing tickets to a show that I would’ve had to wait a year to see otherwise and giving me the opportunity to meet the cast that has inspired me greatly. It absolutely brightened what is usually a rough week of chemo for me!”
“Words can’t express how appreciative I am of the amazing experience Do It For The Love provided for my daughter McKenzy who is battling stage IV cancer,” said McKenzy’s mom. “From the moment I contacted this organization and even after the show the experience has been nothing but outstanding. The results were way better than I could have imagined! From the amazing seats to being escorted back stage with the wonderful stage manager, to the cast knowing McKenzy would be there and at times waiting to speak to her! Our Do It For The Love volunteer who was with us, Julie DeVore, was so lovely and I am so appreciative of her going above and beyond to make it even more amazing than I could have imagined. I really could go on and on! There is no doubt that McKenzy had the experience of a lifetime thanks to Do It For The Love! Thank you!!!”
