Mara Meets the Indigo Girls

June 28, 2017

Mara, a social worker, has been battling granulosa cell tumor cancer for the past 10 years. It is a very rare form of ovarian cancer, and not much is known about it. “I have had multiple surgeries and gone through chemo and multiple medications to keep the cancer at bay as well as fighting for alternative treatments to keep from having more surgeries.” Mara’s very close friend who nominated her for a wish grant, and Do It For the Love was able to grant her wish to see the Indigo Girls and meet them backstage. In her nomination, her friend said that “Mara has an uncanny way of seeing the best in situations and finding the positive. I want her to be honored and see that others’ lives are better because of her.”

“The concert that you all granted was more than I could have ever dreamed of and the Indigo Girls were so warm and welcoming. It gave me a chance to forget about everything going on for a time and just be with my best friend . Thank you from the heart!”
