Sara Talks about Vines & Vibes

Lily first learned about DIFTL at the UCSF Benioff Hospital Hard Hat Walk and Lights On Festival in September of this year. She’s suffered from Juvenile Rheumatoid arthritis since she was two-years old. After trying dozens of medications, all of her joints have been affected by pain and swelling. She has flares and constant swelling and stiffness. She requested tickets to the KIIS-FM Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, where she’d see many of her favorite artists in one place. We arranged for one night at a hotel downtown for Lily and her friend and the two had what Lily calls “a dream come true” weekend.
“We made it inside to our seats (on the floor with a perfect view) just in time to see Taylor Swift perform. She had laryngitis, but it was still amazing to see her live. The night was such an amazing mix of performers–there were at least a dozen of the hottest artists currently on the radio. But of course, our personal favorite artist had to be Sam Smith. He is such an incredible man, and he inspires me every day with his music. His first performance of a song called “nirvana” was the highlight of the entire night. It was raw and powerful and emotional. And, shockingly, one of my other favorite artists, Ed Sheeran, came by to do a surprise performance of his song “thinking out loud”. It was certainly an unexpected treat. We felt truly blessed to be able to see all of these performers live, in the Staples center.
Without the amazing Do It For The Love Foundation, we would have never been able to share in this experience. I totally believe that live music can do so much for your mental health, as well as your spirit. I was able to be in the same room as so many of my favorite musicians. It reminded me that even though I have Arthritis, I am blessed in so many other ways. Thank you for making this trip possible.”
