Bertani’s Backyard Benefit Concerts Knock it Out of the Park

Kay and Sandy have been best friends since 2nd grade! When Kay was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, Sandy knew one of the things she wanted to do to help was nominate her bestie for a Wish Grant to see Joshua Bell. “Kay is a SOULROCKER in every sense. She rescues stray animals and lost people, taking both into her life, home and heart on many occasions.Even when she doesn’t have enough for herself, she shares. Her heart is big, bold, and beautiful. She recently went back to school and earned her degree. She raised 2 amazing daughters on her own and recently met the love of her life, Matt.” says Sandy.
Since her diagnosis, she has been listening to Joshua Bell during meditation and for inspiration. Kay had hoped to be able to travel to see him perform, but all of her extra money had been spent on medical bills and traveling for treatment from her home in Oklahoma City to MD Anderson Treatment Center in Houston. Sandy wanted to take her friend to NYC to see Joshua Bell perform with the NYC Philharmonic. Sandy helped with plane tickets and Do it for the Love helped with tickets to the show and accommodations.
Kay was blown away by the evening. “What an incredible night! Our seats were center stage, orchestral level. When Joshua Bell walked on stage, I could make out every expression on his face. The sweet sound of his violin brought tears to my eyes.” Kay and Sandy met him in the “green room” during intermission. “I explained to him how his music helped me get through my first round of chemo and I continue to listen to it for comfort. He graciously signed my program and wished me well. The experience made me feel loved and full of light. It renewed my spirit and determination to live the best life that I can with this disease that wants to end my life too soon. Thank you DO IT FOR THE LOVE for seeing me and making this night happen.”
