John Goes To The Live 105 BFD Festival

June 19, 2015

Eighteen-year old John has had a challenging year dealing with the diagnosis of a rare auto-immune disorder called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, or ITP. It’s affected his dreams of becoming a varsity wrestler, and changed the way he handles his own health, calling ITP a “roller coaster ride.” One positive affect is the inspiration the disorder has provided John – he’s formed a local support group for others in similar situations and has decided that hematology might be the career path he wants to follow.

His journey was covered by the local paper, the Elk Grove Journal and we received a nomination for John to attend a concert from a former teacher. We were glad to recently send him and his family to the BFD concert in Mountain View, CA, where he saw his favorite bands including Modest Mouse and Cold War Kids. It was his first concert experience and one to remember. Special thanks to Live 105 for donating VIP tickets to John for this experience!

“I’m so happy that I was chosen for this amazing experience,” John said. “I had a great time and my family enjoyed it too. I’m really glad this foundation exists so other people can have an amazing experience like I did. This was my first concert and I had no idea how awesome they are. This experience has opened up my life to a whole new level of happiness.”
