Sara Talks about Vines & Vibes
August 26, 2018
Jesse is a 7 year old boy who loves music. He is always singing, dancing or drumming along to music. Part of his brain is missing because his birth mother used drugs during her pregnancy; Jesse lives with the repercussions of her choices. He goes to some sort of therapy daily (speech, feeding, physical, occupational, music, and aquatic) to try and defy the odds of what his MRI shows. He is having two major surgeries this year, leaving him homebound and in body braces or casts for several weeks; then he has to relearn how to do everything he has worked so hard to do independently (feeding, rolling, playing).
“We were excited to be chosen for a wish through Do It For The Love as we wanted to give Jesse a truly great memory before having a life-changing surgery that would leave him in a partial body cast and bed ridden for 8 weeks. This wish did exactly that, and brings a smile to his face every time we bring up the show. We attended the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Live show at the Palace Theater in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, December 16, 2017 .
Every staff member greeted us with such kindness from the moment we arrived, and we were personally escorted to our orchestra level box seats. As we waited for the show, numerous staff members came in the box to greet us and check on us. We were filled in on the plans for waiting after the show for another personal escort to privately meet some of the cast members. After the show, the ushers cleared out the audience and brought a majority of the cast out to meet Jesse (not just a few, almost the entire cast!) Santa brought a bag of goodies for Jesse, which he opened with their help. Each cast member stayed in character and spent 20 minutes interacting with Jesse and his sister; Hermey even asked if they brushed their teeth daily and expressed his concern over all the treats in his bag without proper dental care. It was very cute, and Jesse loved the interactions.
We are so appreciative to Do It For The Love, the Palace Theater and their staff, and the cast of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! This experience continues to be a topic of conversation as Jesse shares his amazing day, gifts and pictures with everyone.“
