Jason Craig

March 28, 2014

Pictured is Jason Craig on stage in Kansas City with Michael Franti. Jason is 43 years old and has ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This picture was taken on September 27, 2013… we just recently received this beautiful photograph taken by Brandon Cale and wanted to share Jason’s story. After we received Jason’s original email requesting the opportunity to meet Michael Franti, we called to let him know that we’d love to grant him the concert experience to attend the Michael Franti & Spearhead show with he and his loved ones. Jason was actually in the hospital with a collapsed lung. We let him know the good news and he was so excited and emotional at the news, and said that now he had to get better – that we were giving him the will to live and that he would be there no matter what.

We just spoke with Jason over the weekend, and he is doing pretty good considering the ALS has been progressing quite a bit in the last 6 months. Although his hands are failing him, his spirits are high. He expressed his gratitude for his beautiful girlfriend who does so much for him, and can’t thank her enough for being such a wonderful caregiver. Jason shared with us, “Some of the most significant things that have happened to me have happened over the last two years. Since i’ve been diagnosed two years ago so much has changed and most of it for the better. I’ve had two benefit shows done for me by good friends in the local music scene. I am so appreciative of Hope and Steve Dezember for everything they have done to bring awareness about ALS to the community. I’ve lost alot of friends due to ALS, but gained alot of new friends, too. Thank you so much again for allowing me and my family to be a part of your Do It For The Love Family.”

Jason, thank you for being a part of our family. Life is better with you!!!
