Donovan Sees U2

October 19, 2017

At Donovan’s high school graduation, he was thinking a lot about his dad who passed away 6 years ago. Donovan, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, hoped he would be proud of him and wished that he could share this day with him. One of his dad’s favorite bands was U2, so Donovan’s mom wrote to Do It For The Love to see if he could go to one of their concerts, as Donovan shared the love of this band with his dad. We were thrilled to grant this wish as a special graduation gift for Donovan!

“Thank you so much for sending me to the U2 concert at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. I had an amazing time!! The seats were incredible. I attended the concert with my mom, brother and uncle. My cousin was unable to attend with us and I knew his dad was a huge fan of U2. My dad had been a huge fan also. I was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when I was 5 years old. The day of the concert I actually had a doctor appointment for 2.5 hours and had bruises on my arms from having blood drawn that day so I was super excited to get out of that doctors office and have SOME FUN!!! I was unable to get up and dance during the concert because I have been in a wheelchair now since I was about 10 years old. My disease is progressive, but I try to make the most out of every fun adventure I have. I sure made the most out of my night watching U2. I still had a hard time hearing a couple days afterwards. I would love to thank those who made this evening possible. It was the one thing I kept looking forward to as I sat in the doctors office!!”
