Cherie Meets Billy Idol

October 13, 2015

We recently granted a wish for Cherie, living with Stage 4 Breast Cancer, to see Billy Idol. Billy’s management went above and beyond to provide a memorable experience…

“Do It For The Love Foundation I can’t thank you enough for this experience, it is something that I will never forget. Being a Stage 4 Breast Cancer fighter you don’t get too many breaks. In fact the day of the concert, September 28th, I spent the entire day at the hospital undergoing tests to make sure that my cancer hadn’t spread any further and I definitely needed a night like this in order to forget about what I had to endure all day.

I have always been a huge fan of Billy Idol since I was 13 years old, but I have only been able to see him once in concert when I was 16 years old, so when I was given the chance to see him 30 years later I knew I couldn’t pass it up; it was also a great way to celebrate 30 years of friendship with my best friend, Angie, who went with me. What I will remember the most from this experience is meeting him, I was in awe, I couldn’t speak I couldn’t do anything but smile, when he put his arm around me for the picture I just melted and my feet felt like they weight 1000 lbs, I didn’t want to move. The concert itself was absolutely amazing, the first time I saw him was in an arena but this time it was at the House of Blues which had a much more intimate feeling. And Steve Stevens had a PINK guitar!!!!!

Going to this concert made me feel young again, like I was back in high school with my bleach blonde hair cut just like Billy Idol’s. This may sound strange but after being diagnosed I became a recluse, not wanting to really do anything or go anywhere, but going to this concert woke something up inside of me that makes me want to get back out there and live my life, luckily the chemotherapy that I’m on is not as harsh as the other 8 I’ve been on so I will get the chance to do just that.”
