Charlie Sees Billy Joel

May 10, 2016

Charlie was diagnosed with an optic glioma – a type of brain tumor – in April 2014 when he was just 7 years old. He was already blind in one eye and had deficits in the other. He has endured chemotherapy for the last two years and has now encountered more tumor growth and surgeries.

“Charlie has remained so positive and brave through all of this – he has been a hero to

many people. We have made a lot of new friends along the way and he brightens everyone’s day with his smiles and great attitude,” said Charlie’s mom. “We continue to pray for Charlie everyday that we find the right treatment to shrink his tumor and maintain the vision he still has. Do It For The Love gave Charlie such a wonderful gift of pure kindness, generosity and the love of music that¬† he will never forget.”

“I want to thank you so much!” said Charlie “It was the best experience ever! Not everyone gets to see their favorite singer. We had great seats and could see Billy Joel and his band so well. The music sounded so great! This experience has inspired me to keep playing the piano to get better. I feel better and stronger to fight my cancer. It was a break from all the doctor appointments and negative things. The music made me so happy I forgot about my cancer.”
