Camille Goodale is vibrant 22 years old woman with recurrent Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
We are thrilled to be able to share her inspirational experience with you.
“Sometimes I tend to downplay everything I went through, and sometimes I don’t feel like I deserve a special night because there are so many other people out there that unfortunately have it worse than me. This experience reminded me that there are so many kind and supportive people out there cheering me on. It reminded me that there is so much good in the world. It was really nice being treated not like a cancer patient, but like an honored guest.
I can’t thank you enough for everything you planned for me. Seriously, my heart feels so incredibly full. I am so grateful from the bottom of my heart. You exceeded my expectations. Everyone was so kind to me and made this a night I will never forget. This organization has angels working for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Meeting her and getting to hug her and tell her how much she and her music meant to me was unforgettable. Singing along during her performance and hearing her dedicate “Back In My Body” to me was absolutely euphoric. I will always remember that night.
Music has always been extremely therapeutic in my life. Maggie Rogers’ album, Heard It In A Past Life, came out at just the right time for me when I found out I had cancer for the third time. It inspired me and was essentially the soundtrack to my life at that point. I never once imagined I would actually get to thank her for it. The fact I got to do that, hug her, and forget about my diagnosis for a night altogether is something I will cherish forever. It’s given me that special boost to keep fighting. I’m back in my body, as Maggie Rogers would say!”
