Blake Sees Kid Rock

February 20, 2018

Blake, 43, was a big part of the running and triathlete community in his hometown. One day while vacationing in the Bahamas with his amazing wife, he was coming back to the hotel from a run, jumped over a low fence and caught his foot, landing directly on his head. He broke his neck and was airlifted back to the US for emergency surgery. This has left him in a wheelchair, paralyzed from his chest down with limited movement in his arms and hands. His friend, who nominated him for a wish grant to see Kid Rock, says that “through it all, Blake has been a smiling, loving and positive force of nature. He never ceases to amaze me and the rest of the local community.”

“First of all, thank you to Do It For The Love for sending me to an awesome concert. I took my cousin and his wife to the concert with us. It was nice to do something for them who have given so much to me since my injury. Thank you for allowing me to do that! Kid Rock put on an amazing performance; we were all glad to be a part of it. Everyone had a wonderful time, and it truly was a special night. It’s nice to go out for entertainment and forget, if only for a little while, the burdens of my paralysis and the tribulations we all face in life. I think you guys are wonderful for doing what you do and wish you success in the future. I will be telling everyone about your charity. Thank you so much for caring and creating my night to remember.”
